My Relationship With Books & Reading in 2015

I read only 14 books (in the middle of the 15th)
.
Bought 11 Kindle books
.
I reluctantly bought 5 hard copy books (because there are no Kindle versions)
.
Gave out almost all of my hard copy books (I still hate the sight of the left)
.
I found my collection of old poems. Disgusted & embarrassed by the ones I wrote about Love and Nostalgia.
.
Failed twice to do speed-reading with two people
.
Probably read over 500 articles (It might be up to 1000 but 500 is a modest figure. I read most articles via Pocket & Medium apps)
.
Wrote only one book review. (Shame on me).
.
I gave away my special copy of my most special book by a special author to a special friend that I specially connected with via Facebook & BBM - "The Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers
.
Got Obasanjo's three-volume book, "My Watch", as gift (Soyinka calls it three-Carat Watch. Funny)
.
I forced myself to finally read Achebe's "There Was a Country" because some folks were debating it in a WhatsApp group. I couldn't keep up with the debate because of fiery tribal sentiments.
.
I got heartwarming messages from some folks that said they read and bought some books based on my recommendations.

Another year gone without reading any Chimamanda Adichie’s book :(
.
I found my copy of Ngugi's "Decolonising the Mind: The Politics of Language in African Literature" (I'd thought I lost it forever). I want to read it again.

I wanted to share a poem I wrote while on a short visit to France in 2011. I titled it A Moveable Beast, a spoof of Hemingway's book about Paris. I wanted to share it during the Paris attack but I couldn't find it. I wondered why I never backed it up online. I tried to recollect it but the result was silly and stupid.
.
I keep going back to Tade Ipadeola's Sahara Testaments.
.
I didn't finish any fiction. (The ones I started are just half-read, quarter-read or preface-read)
.
I discovered new books via goodreads.com
.
I used amabbooks to send free books to people.
.
Two gifts - books, are on their way from South Africa
.
My friend, Fola, has promised to ship down some books to me from New York

.
I read 4 (unpaid) manuscripts read (I should start charging people ;))

.

I spent too much time reading and arguing about Capitalism
.
One cheque received
.
No cheque written
.
The only books I plan to read in 2016 are chequebooks. Kindle books or tree-books should read themselves.
